This was our 7th annual Easter
spent with Jenette's sister, Judy and her family. The
family has since moved to the Cleveland area!
of Gospel Rescue Missions National Conference in Cleveland
We met the new director of the Rescue
Mission of Utica,
Bill Dodge! He comes from Michigan
and has had experience working in rescue ministry.
He remembered meeting us at the
Association of Gospel Rescue Mission convention in
Phoenix, AZ a few years ago.
We continue a family tradition...Easter
in Cleveland with Sister Judy, her daughter &
husband, Jennifer and Peng and children, Julianne &
Joel...Also, Mindy & Kyle !!
Renewing friendships at the Mission
Conference in Cleveland. Many friends we had not seen in
Pictured here is Jenette, with
Delores Burger (wife of the AGRM Ex. Dir.) and Sharen
Smith, Co-director with husband Pete from Wichita Falls,
Texas. Sorry to report that Sharen passed away the Fall of
2006 after a long illness.
Surprise! The retired director from the
Raleigh Rescue Mission lives less than 20 miles
from us in NC. Sammy and Ann have also just "retired". We
got together at the Sparta Fall Festival in
Upstate New York in June.....
Just in time for Kyle's
senior ball, high school graduation and his 18th
birthday party. He will be attending MVCC.
June was also a time to celebrate
grandson Phoenix's 7th birthday and Jenette's
birthday. What fun to help Phoenix celebrate with 14 little
Granddaughter Jacque is 12 years
old and enjoys her many friends.
We were happy to be back in our
little cottage in Rome. Close to kids and grandkids.
Dave enjoyed planting a few flowers, painting (porch),
listening to bluegrass tapes and reading "Lincoln" by
David Herbert Donald. Jenette's into Jan Karon's

It was also a time to see old friends....
Dorothy, Jane, Anita....as well as the Senior Saints
from Hope Alliance Church.... Betty & Tom, Lev,
Steve, Myrtle & Charles, & Peg's father.
(Sorry to report the passing of Tom & Lev.)
We returned to NC just in time for Mindy's

back porch having dinner with Mindy and Kyle and our NC
friends - - Les & Dessie, Janet & Tom
daughter & husband) and our landlord, Tony. Less
passed away 2 months later. And our wonderful landlord Tony
passed away 2007.
Back to Upstate NY to help Mindy get
ready to move from one end of town to another. Since we
were already in NY....we made it official.....our 29th
annual Moffitt Beach camping trip. For the first
time in 25 of those, the Parker's were NOT
there. Not the same. Mindy came up for an overnight. Will
there be a 26th? Just in case, we've already booked site
We welcomed Auxiliary friend, Donna,
for one week. We enjoyed sightseeing in Banner Elk
and shopping. A beautiful drive on the Blue Ridge
It was a very special occasion for us
to have a small part in Bald Mt. Baptist Church's
annual "Feast in the Field" . Over 1,400 dinners to
the Mexican migrant workers working on Christmas trees were
delivered. The Gideon's handed out Bibles to each
man. We also made a very quick trip to NY to have
Thanksgiving with our kids. That was a first! It felt
great to be sitting at their table, for a change.
Mindy made another trip down to NC for
a week. And what a week! She spent time in the ER with a
painful bout of kidney stones! Then off we go to see her
friend Beth and new hubby in South Carolina.
We take the opportunity to visit
Savannah, Georgia for the first time. A beautiful
historic city. Enjoyed the Christmas parade on the
waterfront and dinner outside. Could not believe it was
December. Even flowers were still in bloom.
Leaving for Laredo, Texas for
Christmas with Sister Jo. A significant snowfall
on Christmas Eve! The newspaper reported it was "a
gift from God". Snow in Laredo! Who'd ever
NEXT DESTINATION (Leaving from Laredo): Mexico!!
